BVW Stories: Clean and Green

Clean and Green Sarah, 15, Brussels: “Today was my first day doing volunteer work. At first, I have to admit, I was nervous. I didn’t know what to say to the other people on my team, but soon enough we were chattering and laughing and basically having a great time picking up rubbish (I never thought I would say/write that). I found that as soon as I started, people were very supportive and complementing. Literally, as soon as we picked up an old beer can, a man came up to us saying, “That’s really good what you are doing.” It was very unexpected. I was very thankful for it, and I had a great first day with great, friendly, inviting people. I will certainly be doing this again in the near future. Looking forward to seeing what else needs to be done with Serve The City until next time. Thank you very much and goodbye.”
