Youth in Action: How One Student Donated 1,670 Books

At Serve the City Brussels, we believe that change starts with people who care – and this month, one young person reminded us just how true that is.

Isabella, a student at the International School of Brussels, reached out to us entirely on her own initiative with a simple but inspired idea: to organize a book drive and donate the collected books to support our Second Hand English Book Sale.

Isabella collected an extraordinary 1,670 second-hand books all carefully sorted by reading level and in excellent condition just in time for our Book Sale on March 21st right here in Brussels.

We are so proud to say: Isabella, thank you. Thank you for your energy, your dedication, and for proving that you don’t need to wait to be older, or have more resources, or have more time – you just need to care enough to start.

This is exactly why youth are at the heart of everything we do at Serve the City. Young people like Isabella are not the leaders of tomorrow – they are the leaders of today. They bring creativity, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to serve that inspires everyone around them. Time and again, we see that when young people are given the space to lead, the impact is extraordinary.

We are deeply grateful to Isabella, and to the CAS program at ISB for nurturing this spirit of service in their students. After this wonderful experience, we look forward to building more opportunities for young people across Brussels to get involved in community-led projects.

If Isabella’s story has inspired you, we’d love to hear from you! Get in contact with yep@servethecity.be for more information about our Youth Program and how the youth of Brussels can help STC.
