BVW Stories: Victor du Pré

Victor du Pré Nadia, Switzerland, 17 years old « “Ten months ago, I had a baby boy. His name is Muhammad Ali; his father named him after the boxer. He really likes fighting. He fights me occasionally…” Sanae went on to explain as she started to share her story. Her husband had been given her trouble since she gave birth, and he eventually kicked her out of the house she bought with her own money. Now she stays at Victor du Pre, the women’s shelter, as she has no where else to go. I was so humbled to listen to this woman. She was so friendly and has such a beautiful smile. She says she tries not to think about the hardship in her life – she is an optimist, she says. By going to Victor du Pre to serve the women by giving free manicures and facials, I also received encouragement from the women I served. Sanae can smile through her pain, and I can smile through mine. I pray God will guide these women to a place of hope and peace.
