Interview with Dario

What does volunteering mean to you?

For me, volunteering means giving my own time to others or to organizations that need it. At the same time, it means not being at home all the time, considering that I’m unemployed. It gives me an opportunity to be among people, to meet some new people, to have new experiences, opportunities …

So, basically, I found out that I can help others using my knowledge and skills. Specifically, I volunteered at the Info Center for Youth.

How did your volunteer experience affect you?

Well, as I am an introvert, it was difficult at first to relax amongst people, or even to talk to them. I was thinking – just give me a job and I’ll do it, preferably from home. So most of the time I’ve done some graphic and web design, various visuals … but after some time I started doing some other things as well. Things that certainly have had a positive impact on me.

So how did it change you?

I’ve met a lot of new people, who I otherwise would not get the chance to meet. And also, I had the opportunity to work with lot of associations and organizations, on various projects. That also changed the way I saw myself, but also others, even the associations. It taught me things I did not know before.
